Lot 17:
Mishnayot with the Kaf Nachat Commentary, compiled from Rashi and Rambam, by Rabbi Yitzchak ben Shlomo Gabai. Vandramin Press – Venice, 1640. Section II: Nezikin, Kodashim, Taharot. Originally, 78, 81-246 leaves. This copy begins with leaf 9 and 2 leaves at its end are missing. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.
Small format on healthy, quality paper. Stains. Marks of usage. Good overall condition.
Appearing between the first and second pagination are two Sephardic signatures: "אברהם די בוטון" and "מאיר די בוטון" – apparently, descendants of Rabbi Avraham de Boton, author of the famed Lechem MIshneh on the Rambam. Possibly, his eldest son, Rabbi Meir de Boton of Salonika, author of Shut Maharam de Boton. His son was called Avraham and possibly, he is the second signatory. See Arzei Halevanon, p. 1423.
Or possibly, the signature is by his grandson Rabbi Avraham ben Rabbi Yaakov, the son of Rabbi Avraham the author of Lechem Mishneh, who was one of the rabbis of Salonika. He had a son named Meir who passed away in his lifetime and possibly, he is the second signatory. See Arzei Halevanon, p. 49.
