Lot 137:
The powder keg that set off the dispute between the Chareidi and Neolog communities of Hungary – "regulations set uo by the representatives of the communities at the congress gathered by the king and his ministers" – Offen, 1869 – single edition.
"די טיילונג אין אונגארן" In 1868, the Hungarian authorities informed the Jewish communities that they must unite and form a single community to be represented before the authorities. The Chareidi community, which feared a takeover by the Neolog community, pulled out of the discussions and convinced the authorities to recognize it as a separate community.
This is a booklet with the regulations of the communities as they were written by the representatives of the communities (mainly the Neolog one) before the Chareidi community convinced the Hungarian authorities to permit it to manage itself.
Rare and most important item on the history of Hungarian Jewry.
