Large and impressive color tapestry, an exact copy of the famed illustration of Gedolei Hador of the Vienna 1928/9 Passover Haggadah. Europe, the 20th century. Stretched on plywood: 75X46 cm. Good condition.
The color illustration depicts the scene from the Passover Haggadah of the Tanaim telling the story of the Exodus from Egypt with the figures being portrayed as the rabbis of the Eiger and Sofer families: the Geonim Rabbi Akiva Eiger and his in-law Rabbi Moshe Sofer, the Chatam Sofer and beside them, his son the Ketav Sofer and his son, Rabbi Simcha Bonem Sofer. On the side, the two disciples informing them it is the time for Keriat Shema of Shacharit.
