Lot 85:
Lengthy letter with Divrei Torah by the Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg, the author of the Sridei Esh – with unknown details about the proposal to serve as Chief Rabbi of England.
The letter was sent to the Rav Moharatz Tiobes. It contains Torah Novellae on the yachid praying Tfillat Musafin. At the end of the letter, Rabbeinu recalls an unknown affair in his biography: "אספר לו בסוד כמוס: הרב הראשי למדינת אנגליה הציע לי משרת ראב"ד במקומו של הרב אברמסקי, עדיין לא הכרעתי בדבר זה מפאת חלישות בריאותי, ועוד אתיייעץ עם כת"ר בזה ולע"ע יטמון הדבר בחיבו".

The Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (1844-1966)Rav of Pilvishki, Lithuania. A disciple of the Saba of Slabodka, and the Rav of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Steinman. Served as the head of the Beit Midrash for Rabbis in Berlin. His writings that survived after the Holocaust were published as a Shut titled Sridei Esh.
