Sefer Emunat Shmuel by Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Koidinover, served as Rav of many important towns in Western and Eastern Europe and in his old age, as Av Beit Din of Krakow. His son was Rabbi Zvi Hirsch, the author of the famed book Kav Hayashar.

First Edition, Frankfurt am Main 1683. 64 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Approbations by Rabbi Ze’ev Wolf of Krakow, Rabbi Aharon Teomim of Worms and by his son the author of Kav Hayashar. Ancient blemished binding, mostly detached. Detached title page. Some taping. The first and last leaves with moth damage. Except for these, most of the book is in fair-good condition.

On the title page, an ancient ownership signature in Ashkenazic script: "…נאם הקטן יעקב שמש…" – the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov ben Rabbi Tevli Shemesh, one of the first rabbis of Maran the Chatam Sofer who called him "my teacher and Rav". Served as Rav of the Kloiz and Rosh Yeshiva of Frankfurt from 1765 until his passing in 1785.

An additional signature on the upper part of the title page: "נאם יעקב טרויש אשכנזי הנקר’ ר’ יעקב בריסקר" – Rabbi Yaakov Brisker, who edited the famed commentary Siftei Chachamim by Rabbi Shabtai Meshorer Bass, who refers to him in his introduction to the book. The approbations of the book (Frankfurt am Main 1712) also refer to him as a partner whose ideas are integrated into it.

An additional, unidentified ancient signature.
