Lot 4:
Shut Rabbi Eliyahu Mizrachi, head of the rabbis of Turkey and author of Sefer Mizrachi on the Torah – first edition, Kushta, 1560. Stefansky Sifrei yesod no. 279. Yaari, Kushta 161.
First edition of one of the most important basic books. The author, Rabbi Eliyahu Mizrachi, was head of the rabbis of Turkey and one of the famed commentators on Rashi.
Unique variant: the version of the title page and the fonts of the introduction differ from those described by Yaari and are the second variant noted by him.
In this copy, like in all other copies, leaves 109-110, containing a responsum on matters of Shmad, are missing. These leaves were apparently removed for fear of the censor.
94, 91-106, [2], 111-118, [38] leaves, a total of [158] leaves. The last leaf was bound after the introduction. Leaves 61-64 are double. Leaves 65-70 were completed fron another copy and are detached.
On the title page, ancient ownership notations: מ"כ להגביר… רצ"ו [רודף צדקה וחסד] כמוה"ר בנימין מוצרי", ו"הצעיר בכור מצליח טאקוני ס"ט"
Impressive, restored leather binding. Stains. Moth perforations (some restored). Good overall condition.
