Shut Shemesh Tzeddakah, by Rabbi Shimshon Morpurgo (1681-1740), one of the leading rabbis of Italy, the Rav of Ankona. The book was edited by his son Rabbi Chaim Shabtai Morpurgo and became a basic halachic book. Impressive engraved title page depicting Moshe and Aharon and David fighting Goliath.

First edition – Venice, 1743. Section I on Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah, [5], 117 leaves. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection. Stefansky Sifrei Yesod p. 84 of the additions. many approbations praising the book and its author by the rabbis of Venice and Amsterdam. 

Healthy paper with wide margins. Stains and some moth perforations. Original fabric binding, reinforced with a new fabric spine. Good overall condition. 

On the upper part of the title page, an important signature: "לה"ו הק’ שמואל צבי ווייס במאנקאטש" – the handwritten signature of Rabbi Shmuel Zvi Weiss Rosh Av Beit Din of Munkatch, the father of the Admor the Imrei Yosef of Spinka (Please refer to Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography). A moth perforation affecting the edge of the signature – see picture. 

In addition, many stamps and A gloss of his brother Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss – the Kabbalist and Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Weiss Av Beit Din of Svaliava and Munkatch, author of the Beit Yitzchak, Toldot Yitzchak and Divrei Yitzchak. One of the leading Admorim of Transylvania, a disciple of the Bnei Yissachar and the Sar Shalom of Belz. Was the leading Rav of his nephew, the Imrei Yosef of Spinka.  

On the flyleaf and verso of the board, additional pen and pencil notations. 

On the flyleaf, a dedication handwritten by a disciple to his revered Rav: "…שייך לאדומו"ר דודי הרה"ג הצ’ וה"ק מה"ו שלום ווידער (ראה להלן) שליט"א אב"ד דק"ק נירעדיהאז והגליל יצ"ו מנאי תלמידו המשתחוה מול הד"כ יוסף הלפרין מדעעש/נירדעז [?]".
