Rabbeinu used different styles to write his book and its contains Halachic, Chassidic and Kabbalistic Divrei Torah. The Admor Rabbi Menashe Hakatan in his approbation for the 2012 edition of the Shelah wrote:  "אין שום ספר מזמנו ועד עתה שלא יביא את דברי רבינו פעמים להלכה ופעמים לחסידות ופעמים בנגלות התורה ופעמים בנסתר וגם לפעמים לפלפל לקרב או לדחות".

One of the most important basic books, a cornerstone of any Jewish library.
