Lot 85:
Draft of a letter by the Rebbe’s secretariat, typewritten, with erasures and corrections that were omitted from Igrot Kodesh.
3 sheets of paper with a draft of a continuous letter dictated by the Rebbe to the secretaries. The letter was eventually sent to the activist Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Levin, the son-in-law of the IMrei Emet of Ger, who later served as the chairman of the Agudat Yisrael party. The fascinating content indicates the Rebbe’s wisdom and his sharp understanding of politics and community.
The dates appearing are "The day after Yom Kippur 1965" and on the last page, an addition of "Isru Chag Sukkot" – even during the High Holidays, the Rebbe was occupied with the happenings of Eretz Yisrael.
The letter deals with the dispute between the two Chareidi parties of the time: Agudat Yisrael and Poalei Agudat Yisrael. The Rebbe tries to unite them, explaining the great damage the split between them causes. Between the lines, he inserts witty comments and barbs.
The draft contains several corrections – possibly handwritten by the Rebbe, yet we do not know for sure. In one place where the language was slightly blatant, there is an erasure that was noy printed in Igrot Kodesh. The corrections as well do not appear there.
A rare and special item revealing the Rebbe’s control of Israeli politics and his concern for the Jewish people in Israel.
3 leaves. Rust from a staple. Some small perforations to the first 2 leaves and more to leaf 3. Small tears. Good condition.
