This is the first edition of the foundational work that has not left the tables of the great Jewish sages since its publication. The Admor HaZaken’s words on the title page of the Tanya, "מלוקט מפי ספרים" referring to the Maharal and Shelah, "ומפי סופרים" – the Maggid of Mezritch and Ramam of Vitebsk.

Incomplete copy: Originally,   [2], 421, [1], 44, [5]. In this copy: 228-421 leaves only (has not been examined on a leaf-by-leaf basis) and without the title page. Much moth damage. No binding. Tears and blemishes. Poor overall condition.
