Rare book: Shut Beit Yisrael by Rabbi Yisrael Kahana Av Beit Din of Novrie and later, for forty years, Rosh Av Beit Din of Zholkva, a leading disciple of Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot – Zholkva, 1858 (apparently, printed in ca. 1870). Approbations by Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson and Rabbi Shlomo Kluger, who had a halachic correspondence with the author and refer to him in their books.
Appearing on the title page, the stamp of the great Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Ish Horowitz Av Beit Din of Stanislav.

Rabbi Aryeh Leibush Halevi Ish Horowitz (1847-1909) one of the leading rabbis and Poskim of Galicia. Was renowned for his Shut book Harei Besamim. Served as the Rav of Stanislav. Received his Hora’ah Semicha from the Geonim Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson and the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. The stamp on this copy is from the period he was the Rav of Stanislav. Rabbeinu followed the Admorim the Mahari of Zitichov, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz and rabbi David Moshe of Chortkov (See more about him in Ma’orei Galicia).
