Rabbi Yosef Yavetz "The Chassid" (1438-1507), one of the greatest Darshanim in Spain and among the sages of the Expulsion. After the expulsion from Spain and Lisbon, he settled in Mantua. In this book, he strongly criticizes the study of philosophy, claiming that in the years of the persecutions, the educated were the first to convert, whereas the women and the common people were the ones who withstood the diificulties and died on Kiddush Hashem. He married the sister of Rabbi Yitzchak Arama, author of the Akedat Yitzchak.
Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Shapira of Dinov (1882-1968), son of Rabbi Pesach Langzam, His mother was the niece of Rabbi Zusha of Annipoli and Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk who blessed her with the birth of a son who would illuminate the world with his Torah and holiness, and asked to call the child by his name "Elimelech." He was one of the greatest leaders of the Chassidic movement, a disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rymanov. The author of many books, the most famed of them being the Bnei Yissachar, after which he was known. Was Rav of several towns in Poland including Dinov, where he was buried. The Admorim of Munkatch are his descendants.
