Lot 191:
Tractate Eruvin of the Bavli Talmud, published by the Rom widow and brothers – Vilna, 1897. Two title pages with red lettering. Late, stable binding. Marks of usage. Stains. Moth perforations and damage. fair overall condition. Apparently, a complete copy; yet, has not been thoroughly examined for missing leaves.
Appearing on every title page is an important ownership stamp: "אליהו חיים באאמו"ר מ’ משה ז"ל מייזיל אב"ד דק"ק לאדז" indicating this copy was owned by the great Gaon, one of the leaders of Polish Jewry, Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Meisel (1821-1912) who was the renowned Rav of Lodz for 35 years until his passing at the age of 91, who was also famed for his kindness and charity, despite his struggle against the Enlightenment Movement and later against Zionism.
