Sefer Ohel David, on tractates Shvu’ot and Yevamot, by the Gaon Rabbi David Deutsch Av Beit Din of Ir Chadash. First edition of tractate Shvu’ot – Pressburg. The Hebrew year of printing appearing on the title page is "תקצ"ה" (1835); the Gregorian year, however, is "1836", which is strange since the Gregorian year cannot bypass the Hebrew one. 

Approbatons by the Chatam Sofer and the Admor author of the Yismach Moshe of Ohel and more. At its end, 5 entire pages with lists of many subscribers including important rabbis and dignitaries, indicating the enthusiasm with which the book was received in Germany. 

Detached binding. Detached and creased title page. Additional creases. Stains. Good overall condition.  

On the title page, a foreign stamp indicating this copy was owned by the Gain Rabbi Dr. Azriel Hildesheimer (1820-1899) a German Rav and leader of Orthodox Jewery in Germany. He was the Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of Eisenstadt and then Berlin, founder of the Rabbinical Beis Midrash in Berlin, a leading disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger (the Aruch LaNer). He received the title “Nasi Eretz Yisrael” for his work on behalf of Russian Jewry and the many yeshivas he established. Among his works: Shut Rabbi Azriel; Chiddushei Rabbi Azriel on the Shas; and more.

On the first leaf, a foreign stamp indicating that this copy was also woned by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Farber, author of the Kerem Zvi (1879-1967) the son of Yehuda Leib of Slabodka. A disciple of Rabbi Yitzhak Elchonon in Kovno, Rabbi Yitzchak Belzer, Rabbi Moshe Danishevsky, Rabbi Naftali Amsterdam. He was Rav in Kalikol-the Kovna district, in 1907. He later immigrated to England and served in the Etz Haim yeshiva in London, and Ram in the Manchester yeshiva (led by Rabbi Menachem Dov Danotzky). In 1910 he was appointed Rav of a community in London. He was a founder and head of the Union of Rabbis in London. He authored Eshet Chayil and more, as well as many articles in journals of the period.
