Sefer Baei Chayei, Shut on Choshen Mishpat section I titled Etz Hadar, of a larger composition containing three sections on the Shulchan Aruch. By Rabbi Chaim Benvenisti author of Knesset Hagedolah. Divided into two volumes. 

First edition – Salonika, 1791. Volume I: [2], 178 leaves. Volume II: [2], 171-313, [1] leaves. An additional title page for the second volume. Old bindings in volume I a leather spine, in volume II almost completely detached. Taping and moth damage to volume II. Some moth perforations. Minor stains. Fair-good overall condition. 

On the title page of volume I: an ownership notation in Sephardic script, signed by "יאודה עלי" – apparently, the great sage Rabbi Yehuda Eli ben Rabbi Moshe. Born in Nishi, Greece and one of the sages of Jerusalem in the 18th century. Was famed for his important Halachic book Kemach Solet (see: Arzei Halevanon p. 817, expanded entry). 

In addition, another short ownership notation on the title page, signed by David Eli. 

Inside the book, a handwritten comment on the margins of the leaf. 

In volume II, a notation on the title page that was not examined. On leaf 2, a stamp: "משה כלפון".
