Lot 47:
Two sections in two volumes of the famed Alona Machzor, Poland custom. High-quality printing, large format for prayer leaders. "Edited, elucidated and proofread … by Rabbi Zanvil Hanover" – Altona, 1804. Section I: [5], 390 [i.e. 380] leaves. Section II: [5], 430 leaves.
In each section, a finely engraved title page and an additional, detailed title page. At their end, customs authored by Rabbi Isaac Tirno with glosses by Rabbi Avraham Klausner. Appearing after the printers’ foreword, two pages of subscribers from the Altona and Hamburg communities. Wide margins. Volume I with faded gilt edges. Volume II with fresh green edges. Ancient leather bindings, one with a blemished spine. Fine copies in very good condition.
On verso of the binding of section I, an interesting Ashkenazic notation that has not been thoroughly examined.
