Auction 62

Rare! Has not been seen in Auctions: Sefer TOrat Chaim - First Edition Warsaw, 1798

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: $50

Buyer's premium:

Sefer Torat Chaim authored by Rabbi Chaim ben Rabbi Ephraim of Opatow to teach students Gemora and Poskim. First (and single?) edition and in the author’s lifetime – Warsaw, 1798. Originally, [1], 15. In this copy, the last leaf is missing. In the National Library, the book appears in the Rare Book Collection.

Similar to the concise format of the entire book, so is the author’s introduction and the single approbation by Rabbi Aryeh Leib of Sochatchov, which appears in a single line. Appearing beneath it: "שאר הסכמות אי אפשר להעלותם עם כתבם שלהם… ארשום חתימתם" and the names of Rabbi Chanina Lipman Meisel Av Beit Din of Piotrkow and Rabbi Yonah of Kempno. On verso of the title page, a beautiful illustration of a rural landscape with a sun and a well.

A rare book that to the best of our knowledge has not been seen in auctions. No binding. Some moth damage. Stains. Good overall condition.
