Manuscript, large volume of Torah novellae, handwritten by the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Posner Loewy Av Beit Din of Seleshon – novellae on the Shas, Halacha and Torah. Early 19th century. 

The lengthy manuscript contains novellae on tractates bava Metzi’ah, Shvu’ot, Zvachim, Megillah, Rosh Hashana and on tractate Avot, Hilchot Ribit and Drashot on the Torah. 

The manuscript refers to his son-in-law: "חתן בתי הבחור דוב בער מדאברין רצה לתרץ… and his uncle and Rav: בשם אדמ"ו דודי הגאון המפו’ מה’ צבי זצללה"ה אב"ד דק’ פיורדא" – the Gaon Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Charif Yanov, the Rav of Furth. 

The script of the last page differs from the script of the entire manuscript and is, apparently, the script of Rabbi Asher Lemil 

The manuscript contains a total of 52 pp. non-consecutive. 

Leather binding with gilt decorations and inscription. Wear and restoration to the edges of the leaves. Stains. Good overall condition. 

Chamisha Chumshei Torah The great Gaon Rabbi Avraham Loewy (Posner) (1775-1832) a disciple of Rabbi Yosef Josefpw the son-in-law of the Nodah BiYehuda and a disciple of his uncle Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Charif and Rabbi Raphael of Hamburg. Some of his Divrei Torah were published in the books by his sons, Avnei Kodesh and Bayit LaAvot.

Rabbeinu was famed mainly for his sons, who were all renowned Geonim and were known as the Chamisha Chumshei Torah.

It is told that once, when Rabbeinu visited the Chozeh of Lublin on Sabbath, the Chozeh honored him with an Aliyah and then blessed him: "ומלכים מחלציך יצאו" – a blessing that was fulfilled in his five sons: 

* Rabbi Shlomo Zalman (Loewy_ Prost, Av Beit Din of Zlotchov. 

* Rabbi Asher lemil Loewy, Av Beit Din of Galin and in his old age, Rosh Av Beit Din of Jerusalem. 

*  Rabbi Nachum Loewy, Av Beit Din of Shadik. Author of Avnei Kodesh. 

* Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda Leib Loewy, Av Beit Din of Shleshin and later, Rosh Av Beit Din of Jerusalem. Author of Bayit LaAvot and founder of Kollel Warsaw in Jerusalem. 

* Rabbi Yisrael (Loewy) Prost.
