Pocket edition of the Tanya which was published for the 70th birthday of the Rebbe – the 11th of Nissan 1972. Kfar Chabad, the Holy Land. Copies of this edition were distributed by the Rebbe and it was the first time Tanya books were distributed by the Rebbe (see below). The general letter that was enclosed with the copies of this edition, was not enclosed with this copy so we do not know whether it was given directly by the Rebbe and who received it. 12 cm. Original plastic binding. Small tear to the title page. Some blemishes. Good overall condition.
According to the book Mazkeret Netzach (Brooklyn, 2011), during the days of Sefirat HaOmer of 1972, the Rebbe gave every one of the children around the world who had participated in ‘Matanah LaRebbe’ (taking upon themselves to study, etc.) for his 70th birthday a pocket edition of the Tanya or Siddur Tehilat Hashem, with an enclosed general-private letter for each child. As stated, with this copy, a general letter was not enclosed.
