20 handwritten leaves from Rabbeinu Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, the Ben Ish Hai. A drash with a eulogy for Rabbi Elisha Yosef, Adar 1894. At the beginning he notes that the drash was already given as a eulogy for the Rishon LeZion Maharera Ashkenazi (probably Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi, 1811-1880), who was the Chief Rabbi during the Ottoman Empire, both Rishon LeZion and Chacham Bashi, and for Rachash (unknown).

In the drash he writes that that with God’s help he wishes to say a chiddush based on what was said in the eulogy of Rabbi Chan”a (probably Chaim Nissim Abulafia, died 1861). Discusses the ma’alah of the gaze of tzaddikim, which is a kapparah for the entire generation, and ends by wishing: “May it be Hashem’s will that the merit of the departed safeguards us.”

11x15cm. good condition.
