Manuscript, copying of Sefer Sha’arei Orah – an early Kabbalistic composition by the great Kabbalist Rabbi Yosef Gikatilla . Fine, uniform Yemenite script. On the margins of the sheet and between the lines, later additions and corrections.
According to the title page, the copying was done after the Mantova 1560 edition. Appearing on the colophon is the year 1699. A comparsion we did indicates that the copyist made an effort to remain faithful to the original pagination and keywords yet failed and therefore the manuscript contains 10 leaves more than the original edition. 102 leaves – the leaf before the last is missing.
New, elegant leather binding, impressed, Quality paper. Wide margins 21X14.5 cm. Some blemishes and tears. Yellow edges. Stains. Good general condition.
