Lot 2:
Shut Harosh – by Rabbeinu Asher ben Rabbi Yechiel of Paris, one of the Rishonim. A most important basic halachic book. First edition – Kushta, 1517 – incunable. [190] leaves, originally not paginated. This copy is without the title page and contains [120] leaves only. Stefansky Sifrei Yessod 267. In the National Library, the book appears in the collection of rare books.
This edition is important not only due to it being the first one but also due to it serving Maran the Beis Yosef for his book on the Tur and his monumental book, the Shulchan Aruch, and the Rema for its glosses on it.
New binding. Large stains. Moth perforations and damage. Taping and many restorations. Fair general condition.
Appearing on the restored flyleaf is a lengthy handwritten notation containing Chidushei Torah. The copy itself is decorated with several handwritten glosses handwritten by the sages of Morocco.
On the first leaf, an Oriental signature: "Yaakov Bardugo ben Moharam" – Rabbi Yaakov bardugo the author of Edut BeYaakov, the son of Rabbi Mordechai and grandson of Rabbi Raphael Bardugo, the Malach raphael.
One signed gloss: "Ne’um Hakatan Yavetz"
