Lot 18:
"Ateret Zvi Sefer beit Lechem yehuda which is a new commentary on the words of the Geonim and Acharonim on Shulchan Aruch of Tur Yoreh Deah" by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch ben rabbi Azriel of Vilna. With the Sha’ar Ephraim commentary by Rabbi Ephraim Zalman ben Rabbi Elyakum Feibush.
Second edition of the rare book and first edition of the Sha’ar Ephraim – Furth, 1747. 120, [8] leaves. Approbations by the rabbis of Mannheim, Vurtzburg, Hesin, Kroffeld and Zholkva. No binding. Taping to the title page and several leaves at the beginning and the end, often affecting the text. Stains. Tears to the edges. Faded color edges. Good general condition.
Inside the book, a sequential notation (a sequence of leaves each containing a single word that makes up a complete sentence) in Ashkenazic script. On leaf 37, a fine notation in square script – ownership notations indicating that this copy had belonged to Rabbi Yosef Zvi ben Rabbi Yaakov. Served as Av Beis Din of Drohobych, Galicia, during the years 1810-1825. Approbations by him appear in Sefer Yesod Yitzchak, Zholkva 1810 and in Sefer Toldot Avraham by Rabbi Avraham Charif Av Beis Din of Olianov, where his approbation appears alongside those by leading contemporary Chassidic rabbis (see also Toldot Hakehilot MiPolin p. 230 – Horowitz).
Inside the book, glosses and comments handwritten by him, some of them significant. Several are partly trimmed. In addition, on the top of the title page, a faded notation indicating the ownership of the above Rav, possibly also handwritten by him.
