Rabbi Chaim Engel (1880-1941) was the son of the Maharash Engel of Radomyśl. Even when he was a boy, his father told him that at his age he did not know as much as he did. He was admired by the greats of his generation. Rabbi Meir Arik said of him: “20 mil around Tarnov doesn’t have a lamdan like him”. He served in the rabbinate of Radomyśl, succeeding his father, until he was murdered in the Shoah. He wrote many books by hand which did not survive the Shoah. A few chiddushim are sprinkled in works by his father, printed by him.
