“And today I arose from my sickbed” – a letter filled with flowery language, written by hand and signed by the gaon Rabbi Shabtai Lifshitz, addressed to Rabbi Avraham Brody, Av Beit Din of Norod. Ilnytsia 1905.
The letterwriter thanks Rabbi Brody for his consistent help and blesses him in flowery language, “to enliven my soul and me, what can I say but that Hashem helps the gaon shlita in everything until 120 years with nachat and may Hashem answer all his prayers, etc.”

The gaon tzaddik Rabbi Shabtai Lifshitz (died 1929) was the dayan and moreh Tzedek in Ilnytsia and Ra’avad of Irshava, an important Spinka chassid. He wrote many famous works, including Segulot Yisrael printed in many editions, and is considered a primary source for segulot until today. He wrote many books on brit milah, the Tiferet Yaakov on the Torah, and others.
