Buyer's premium:

Large volume containing many issues of the well-known Yiddish newspaper, Das Judische Tagblatt, published in Warsaw by Rabbi Mendel Kaminer, uncle of the Admor Imrei Emet of Gur, who also encouraged its publication. The volume also contains issues bearing the title “Eretz Yisrael Nomer” and has nonsequential issues from between Tu Bishvat 1934 – 16th Iyar 1936. The newspapers are written in Yiddish, filled with information, advertisements, maamarei hashkafah, various statements, and more. Includes gedolei Yisrael, especially leaders of chassidus, the Chatam Sofer and his students and the Agudas Yisrael movement. Among the subjects written about in these issues is a wide-ranging discussion of the death of the Rosh Yeshiva of Chochmei Lublin and founder of Daf Yomi, Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin, who died at the beginning of 1933-34.

Bound in hardcover matching the period (detached). 52cm. A good portion of the newspapers are missing the first page with the newspaper title—we did not look into the sequentiality of issues because of the volume’s size. Tears and a number of missing leaves among the issues. Sold as is. Signatures of ownership: “the holy Yisrael Ehrlich of Košice.”
