The content includes divrei torah and maamarei data, Judaic research and analysis of manuscripts given to him as a gift from his students, about which they write in the printed dedication after the title page. The dedication is filled with reverence and admiration for their Rabbi, as was famous among Ashkenazi Jewry.

Rabbi Dr. Azriel Hildesheimer (1820-1899) was a German rabbi and leader of Orthodox Judaism. He is regarded as a pioneering moderniser of Orthodox Judaism in Germany and as a founder of Modern Orthodox Judaism. He was the rabbi and rosh yeshiva of Eisenstadt and then Berlin, founder of the Rabbinical Beis Midrash in Berlin, a talmid muvhak of the gaon Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger (the Aruch LaNer). He received the title “Nasi Eretz Yisrael” for his work on behalf of Russian Jewry and the many yeshivot he established.
