Rabbi Yehiel Matityahu Davis (? – 1963) was one of the greatest Jerusalem sages, a student of well-known rabbis including Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer, Rabbi Eliyahu Klotzkin, Rabbi Selig Reuven Bengis, at whose home he was practically a family member. Rabbi Matityahu was close to the circles of the kana’im and was in close friendship with Rabbi Amram Blau and Rabbi Aharon Katznelboigen. With the passing of his close friend Rabbi Aharon Fisher – the father of Rabbi Shlomo Fisher, the head of the Itari Yeshiva and his brother – in his youth, Rabbi Matityahu offered his guardianship over his sons and raised them in the Torah and took care of their needs and they are the ones who later published his book "Mitat Melech" from the Torah of the rabbi who raised them. His sons: Rabbi Avraham David and Rabbi Ben Zion. His sons-in-law: Rabbi Shmuel David HaCohen Munk of Haifa, Rabbi Mordechai Cartman, and Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lemberger.
