Two books with yichus to rabbis of Aleppo. First editions, Jerusalem 1895-1902.

1. Sefer Ashira Lashem, sections 1-2, on Tanach and more by Rabbi Shalom ben Rabbi Refael Gabbay. Only edition, Jerusalem 1895. Separate title page for the second section. [2], 70, 70[7] leaves. A few tears, worming holes, stains, binding with an old leather spine. Overall good condition. The binding has a dedication (maybe from the author?) to Rabbi Shaul Katzin, an Aleppo rabbi, and signatures from the latter’s son, Rabbi Shlomo Katzin (also on the title page).


2. Shaarei Rachamim by Rabbi Rachamim Yosef Franco (the Charif), Sefardi Rabbi of Hevron. First edition, Jerusalem 1902. Tear in the bottom section of the title page, which is detached. Worming holes. Binding is worn and detached. Dry paper at the edges. Otherwise overall good condition. [3], 154, 156-158 leaves. The back of the binding has a dedication signed by the author’s son (and the publisher), “the young Rabbeinu Meir Franco s”t”. Addressed to Moharar Yitzhak Sarim. The back of the title page has the signature of Rabbi Yitzhak Sarim (the Second) of Aleppo, who immigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem. He was buried on the Mt. of Olives in 1909.
