Sefer Simcha LaIsh by Rabbi Yaakov Shaul Alisher, the Rishon LeZion and Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem (the Yisa Bracha)—with a dedication from the author’s son, Rabbi Chaim Moshe Alisher, to Rabbi Chaim Berlin, Rabbi of Moscow and head of the Volozhin yeshiva.
Among the book’s leaves are the stamps of Rabbi Chaim Berlin “previously Rabbi of Moscow, Ra’avad and Ram in Volozhin and now in Jerusalem”. The binding leaf has a glued dedication with the addition of handwritten words, stamped and signed by Rabbi Chaim Moshe Alisher, son of the Yisa Bracha.
Rabbi Chaim Moshe Alisher (1845-1924) was the son of Rabbi Yaakov Shaul Alisher. He also served as Chief Rabbi and Rishon LeZion, was beloved by all in Jerusalem, and wrote the Sha’al haIsh and Pnei HaIsh.
