Sefer HaZohar on the Torah, one volume including the third and fourth sections with Leviticus through Deuteronomy. Printed by Eliezer Sa’adon, Livorno. 1791 according to the title pages, but the colophon lists 1793.
Third section: Vayikra. 115 leaves. Fourth section: Bamidbar (and Deuteronomy): [1], 117-312 leaves. Separate title page for the fourth section.
This edition includes the glosses of gedolei Yisrael from prior editions
but have the addition (for the first time) of the glosses called “Me’ein” by HaChida, who also wrote an introduction (in the first section) and concluding remarks (in this volume, leaf 312) entitled “Yismach Chaim”, in which HaChida asks for the defence of the anonymous editor of the Constantinople printing, who was attacked by the kabbalist Rabbi Shalom Buzaglo in the Amsterdam Zohar of 1771-1772. He writes “I … know the identity of the editor and only lifted his pen for what he found in the writings of the gedolei Yisrael.” Leaf 311: “The words … of the printer here in Livorno [Eliezer Sa’adon],
‘with a poem for the honor of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochay’.” Additional poem from him on the back of the title page of the third section with the printer’s symbol.
The binding is a little loose, tape, the fifth leaf has tape hiding some text, which has been filled out on top by hand. A few worming holes, few points of worming damage, overall fair to good condition.
