Buyer's premium:

The booklet Chikur Din “a maamar on dinei nefashot through the gmar din as intended in the halachot of the sages of the Talmud”, by Rabbi Yitzhak Baruch HaLevi, “rabbi of the Jewish community of Ferrara”, a fruitful author of several books including eulogy books and histories.

First edition, seemingly the only one. 56 pages. Original colorful printed jacket, small tear to the jacket, light stains, overall good condition.

In his long introduction, the author praises the Torah and its laws and writes (among other things) the reason which brought him to write his work: “I don’t intend simply to cite these halachot for their own sake since many were cancelled [batlu] long ago…I bring them especially to demonstrate the evolution of the sweetness of our dinei nefashot, and to show how most of those sentenced to death in non-Jewish courts would be sentenced to life according to Jewish law, and this research should grow and shower merit on Yaakov because these laws are to live by,
and the Jewish people should pay attention and study them since they are their inheritance.”
