Sefer Shut Orech Chaim by the gaon Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Amram Greenwald of Khust, known by the name of this book as the Arugas HaBosem. First edition, printed by the partners Chaim Yehuda Goldenberg and Yosef Hecht, Svaliava 1912. [8], 179, [9] leaves. At the beginning of the book is a long introduction by the author’s son, Rabbi Avraham Yosef.
[4] leaves from the end contain: a eulogy on the author’s brother, the gaon Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald, Av Beit Din of Zelem shlita: “His pure soul left…on Erev Shabbat Kodesh of Devarim, 7th of Av [1910], this I said on Sunday, 7th of Elul…here in Zelem.” This eulogy doesn’t appear in the pagination of the copy held by the National Library.
Binding partially detached, stains, frayed spine, overall good condition.
The back of the title page has a long dedication with many blessings for a wedding and building of a home, signed by “The little Moshe Panet ben Admor Av Beit Din of Desh shlita.”—this is a descendant of the Desh dynasty, probably Rabbi Moshe hy”d, the eldest son of the Admor Rabbi Yosef of Desh. This rabbi Moshe perished in the Shoah.
