Darchei HaEmunah on the Torah; the word “Darchei” hints at the author’s name—Rabbi Yosef David Kohen, Av Beit Din of Iasi (1750-1828), student of Rabbi Yehonatan Eibeschitz and later of the Admorim Rabbi Moshe Leib of Sasov and Rabbi Meshulam Fish of Zbarazh. He succeeded the Admor Ohev Yisrael of Aphta in Iasi.
First and only edition, Iasi 1857. [4], 148 leaves. Includes the rare leaf featuring the only approbation ever given by the controversial Rabbi Berniv of Liova (see the Hebrew description of this item). The National Library catalogues it in the Rare Books section and their copy is missing the first leaves including the approbation. Additional approbation by the author’s brother the Admor Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Shtefanesht, Rabbi Shmuel Shmelka Taubs (Av Beit Din of Iasi), and Rabbi Yeshayahu Shor, Av Beit Din of Iasi, who writes among other things: “…in this book will be found peace for the soul and enjoyment for shabbat…and maybe merit for sons and grooms to wed his daughters. Even otherwise trust that this book safeguards the home…”. Stefanski Chassidut 141.
Only the rear binding (detached), stains, worming holes, overall good condition.
