Rabbi Yisrael Welz (1887-1974) was a student of the Shevet Sofer in Pressburg, Ra’avad in Budapest until the Shoah, and then a teacher in Jerusalem. He was a leader of the Otzer HaPoskim, author of the Shut Divrei Yisrael (3 sections), and was known as one of the most famous matir agunot after the Shoah.

Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Waldenberg (1916-2007), author of the responsa Tzitz Eliezer, Shvitat Hayam [the laws of travelling by ship on shabbat] and Hilchot Medina, one of the foremost poskim of the previous generation, known primarily due to his responsa and extensive knowledge about halacha and medicine. He was a member of the great rabbinic court, received the Israel Prize for religious literature and the Rav Kook Prize.
