Lot 253:
Old volume with masechtot from Seder Moed of the Talmud Bavli, printed in Zhitomir, without title pages.
Among the pages are stamps of “the Beit Midrash of Beis Yisrael in Grosvardin”, “belongs to the Beit Midrash Vizhnitze in Grosv…”. “If found outside the Beit Midrash of the Admor shlita of Vizhnitz, please return it to the gabbayim.” These stamps testify that this copy was owned by the Beit Midrash of the Admor Ahavas Yisrael of Vizhnitz, when he resided in Grosvardin.
The margins of the indices have many signatures of students who studied at the Rabbi’s yeshiva, some with dates: “…Meir Yosef fun Warsaw Marmarosh, studies in Grosvardin 1927, 25th of Adar”. “This gemara belongs to this, 1942”, “Chaim of Alik…September…”. “Shmuel Brettler”. “Avraham Hartman”. “Chaim of Teresik(f?)”. “Eli Berger of Satmar.” “Shabtai Chaim Yankelovitch.” Other notes and doodles in Yiddish, done by bachurim between the two world wars.
Copy is heavily worn due to use, stained and very torn. A historic item documenting the torah study of talmidei yeshiva in Europe. A few notes in pencil. Many worming holes, no binding, leaves detached, overall poor condition.
