Sefer Emek Halacha, chiddushei dinim on the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chayim and Yoreh De’ah written in a dialectic format, by Rabbi Zev Wolf ben Yuda Av Beit Din of Zittel. First edition. 18, 21, 26, 2 leaves (the Hebrew pagination is defective).

Many approbations from Lithuanian gedolim: Rabbi Yaakov Meir Podova of Brisk, Rabbi Dov Berish Ashkenazi of Lublin, Rabbi Yaakov of Karlin, Rabbi Zvi Elimelech of Lida, Rabbi Alexanda Ziskind of Novhardok. At the end are three large pages filled with subscriber names, from all over Lithuanian Jewry including rabbis, testifying to the honor accorded the author.

Worming damage at the edges of pages, indices are detached from the binding, overall fair condition.

The Rebbe David Borenstein [1876-1942], author of ‘Chasdei David’ of Sochatchov, the older son of the author of the ‘Shem Mishmuel’, grandson of the ‘Avnei Nezer’ and great grandson of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotzk. One of the leaders of Polish Jewry before the Holocaust. Served as Rabbi of Wyszogrod, and after his father’s death was chosen to succeed him as Rebbe of Sochatchov and thousands of Sochatchov chassidim flocked to him. He founded the ‘Beit Avraham’ chain of yeshivot which was active in Poland until the Holocaust. During the Holocaust he was one of the leaders of the Warsaw Ghetto and even supported the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
