Buyer's premium:

The first sefer in the series of the Chiddushei HaRim, Shut HaRim on the four sections of the Shulchan Aruch with chiddushim on the Shas, by the first Admor of Gur, Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Alter.

This copy is the first and only of the series printed in Jozefow, while the rest were printed in Warsaw. The background on the printing of this work appears in the work Meir Einei HaGola: in 1867 a severe plague ravished Poland, and Rabbi Chanoch Henich of Alexander encouraged the Sfat Emet to begin printing his father’s writings, stating that he had a tradition from his forefathers that the printing of divrei torah from tzaddikim is a segula for ending a plague. The Sfat Emet accepted and begin work printing this section.
