This book was published by the author because he saw the dismal state of Judaism in America at that time, so it was also written in English so that all the daughters of Israel would understand the magnitude of the mitzvah and the responsibility, and a title and introduction in Hebrew was added in which the author explains what led to the work: “I a man saw myself…that the women, true righteous daughters in whose merit we were redeemed, here speaking in a language of ridicule and derision against the laws of nidda, especially about tevilah…and the mitzvot have almost been completely forgotten in our country…”
The author took upon himself the goal of bringing the mitzvot back into public consciousness from a scientific, cultural, and logical perspective. The work has instructions how to make a private/household mikvah costing only $5 (at that time), and he included ideas for designing a mikvah at home so that it will appear inviting and aesthetically pleasing as with the rest of one’s home. At the bottom of the title page, in Yiddish, is a note: “This book cannot be purchased, it will be given free to anyone interested in holy family life.”
The book has wonderful illustrations and mathematical charts on the laws of preparing a mikvah, which testify to the author’s wealth of knowledge. Printed bindings on both sides, in Hebrew and English. Lone worming holes in the margins, stains, overall good condition.
