Lot 224:
Printed amulet for the preservation of a child and delivering mother, “from the holy Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov”, with conjunctions of holy names and segula verses.
The top of the leaf has a title beginning: “Beshem Hashem Elo-hei Yisrael Gadol v’Nora…”. With an illustration of two crowns, “b’siman tov u’bemazal tov”. At the beginning of the leaf is a printed story of a meeting between the Prophet Elijah and Lilith. Underneath: Shir LaMa’alot (Psalms, 121). In the center: illustration of a hamsa. Bottom: illustration of two lions, between which is the inscription: “Adam v’Chava Pnima, Lilith v’Kat Dila Chutz.” Signed Rabbi Avraham ben Alloun (also in French).
place of printing appears in Latin letters: Casablanca. The National Library has a printed amulet which is similar to this one, but the dimensions are slightly different; theirs is dated 1930, this one does not have a printed date.
21x27cm. Tears in the edges, creases, one hole in the margins, stains, overall good condition.
