Sefer Choshen v’Efod on the Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, halachot of pre-emptive rights (mitzranut), by Rabbi Yitzhak Zvi Amsel, Av Beit Din of Stropkov and Zvarov.

The blank first leaves have stamps of Rabbi Avraham Yosef Greenwald, eldest son of the Arugas HaBosem and his successor in Ungvar. There is also an inscribed note that the book was from the estate of his brother, Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Greenwald, Av Beit Din of Tzelim and then the US. The title page has a long inscription on the ma’alah of the book, probably handwritten by Rabbi Avraham Yosef Greenwald. Binding and title page detached, leaves a little dry, good condition.

Rabbi Avraham Yosef Greenwald (1878-1928) was the author of the Shut Avnei Shoham. He served as Av Beit Din of Makova and successor to his father in the rabbinate of Chust and Ungvar. He also led the yeshiva in Ungvar and raised many famous students. He died at a young age in 1928.

Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Greenwald (1893-1980) was the Av Beit Din of Tzelim, author of Sefer Megadlus Merkachkim (on medicines). He served as Av Beit Din in a number of communities and led Tzelim, where he also led the yeshiva there. As a result of the Shoah he moved ot the US and established the Arugas HaBosem community after his father and led to preserve the Jewish faith and kashrus in the US.
