Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Meizlish (1902-1974) was the grandson of Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of the Yismach Mose. He received smicha from Rabbi Meir Arik, Av Beit Din of Torna and he served as Rabbi in Limnov and Neimark. During the Shoah he documented dozens of complicated questions regarding Pikuach Nefesh which came to him at the height of the persecution from the death camp at Auschwitz. These he printed in his Shut Mikdashei HaShem. After the war he served as rabbi of the Bergen-Belsen camp, where he led a special beit din to discuss agunot laws. Upon the camp’s closure he immigrated to the US where he served as rabbi of the She’erit Yisrael community in Chicago.
