1. Masa Hatzalah (of Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac HaLevi Herzog to Europe), Shvat 1946-Tishrei 1946. Printed in Jerusalem, Iyar 1947. 102 [2] pages. Accompanied by many exciting photographs from the lives of survivors and a survey of the journey, including meetings with representatives from around the world.

Soft binding (detached), moisture stains, overall good condition. The blank first leaf has an inscription: “Gift from the gaon (author) to Eliezer … Novik, when he was in his home in Jerusalem.” It would seem to be written by the Chief Rabbi himself.

2. Igrot HaRa’iz, “a gift to the gaon Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac HaLevi Herzog…upon his return, from Rabbi Aharon Yitzhak Zislansky.” A collection of halachic responsa sent by Rabbi Zislansky to the Chief Rabbi. Printed in Jerusalem, 1959. [8], 159 [1] page. The paper is wavy from moisture, overall good condition.

Blank first leaf has a dedication and signature from the author to Rabbi Eliezer Novik, 4th Shvat 1959.

Rabbi Eliezer HaLevi Novik was Chief Chazzan of Washington, was active in the Mizrahi movement, and his home was a residence for many rabbis who came to visit in the United States, including Rabbi Avraham Dov Kahane Shapir and the Rabbi of Ponevezh, Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahneman. He moved to Israel after the state was established. He and his son became rosh yeshivot of Beer Sheva and Beit Yehiel for their great Torah labour, and his son was first Ram in Yeshivat HaSharon and mashgiach at Knesset Yitzhak.
