Rare, valuable item, made in Baghdad following the shita of the Mara d’Atra there, the Ben Ish Hai (Rabbi Yosef Haim), as written in his book (Hilchot Shana Shniya, Parshat Ki Tavo, Ot 4): “our city’s minhag is to make a housing from gvil leather to suit its size, one sews it and cuts a little of the leather of the housing opposite the name of Hashem, not to cut it completely but rather to leave a bit so it is a sort of window for the name, and the leather extends on either side in order to nail it into the doorframe.”
