Lot 001:
Tur Yoreh De’ah with the Beit Yosef, Darchei Moshe, and another 15 Maalot printed by the partners, Dov Beer bar Yisrael Segel and Rabbi Dov Beer bar Pesach—Slavita 1802.
Edition published upon the initiative and with the money of the Admor HaZaken Baal HaTanya, who send his brother Rabbi Mordechai and his son-in-law Rabbi Shalom Shachneh to print the Arbaa Turim and the Talmud Bavli at Slavita (with the approbation of Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev for the set of Arbaa Turim, who notes their names as the initiators of the printing). The book “Igrot Kodesh of the Admor HaZaken” preserves letters from the Admor to the printer Rabbi Moshe Shapira of Slavita regarding the printing of this set of Arbaa Turim. These letters are proof of Rabbi Moshe Shapira’s standing as the head of the Slavita printing press since its establishment, despite the fact his name does not appear on early printings (see Igrot 66, 91, 92, 93).
Antique signatures of ownership on the title page. 291 leaves. Tape on the title page and a number of additional pages, large tear with missing part of leaf 45, worming damage, stains, overall good condition.
