Sefer HaShla by Rabbi Yeshayahu HaLevi Horwitz with “Vavei Amudim” by Rabbi Shabtai Sheptil Horwitz ben HaShla, printed by Emmanuel ben Yosef Attias.
This handsome, segulah edition is known as the Shla Nachat. In letters of the Rayatz of Lubavitch (Igrot vol. 2, 853), he writes about this edition: “The year Nachat is in hiddur. Simna milta is the discovery of the holy book, which caused Nachat Ruach above, and in the year that it was released the Baal Shem Tov was born. And it shows that the year that the Baal Shem Tov was born with the printing of the Shla he would enlighten the world with light of Torah.”
Partially missing copy: Begins on leaf 268, includes the following: 268-422, 44, [12] leaves.
The Vavei Amudim section has 44 leaves (it is an introduction by the author’s son), bound at the beginning of the book, before the Sefer HaShla. At the beginning of the book is an antique title page illustrated by hand. With Mizrahi signatures of ownership.
Moth damage, tears with missing text on the last leaf, stains, overall fair to good condition.
