Package/vase created from a shell casing gathered from the battlefield of the First World War, made by Betzalel in 1918, with a portrait of Herzl and Rachel’s Tomb (see the Collection of Ellen and Riva Slipka in the Israel Museum).


The shell itself is made of brass and is decorated with beautiful engraving work in a Damascus style—silver and copper decorations inlaid, floral patterns. In the center are the illustrations.

At the bottom of the shell are stamps of manufacturers, and the engraving of the date 1918. Diameter: 10cm. Height: 29cm. Overall very good condition.
