Lot 123:
Letter from the chassid Rabbi Yehuda Shmotkin addressed to a relative who was a Gur chassid. He pleads with his relative to order the members of his family (everyone, including the small girls) to light shabbat candles.
He details why he is instructing the relative to do so: “We see that the Rebbe shlita is not resting, he is closed off and is travelling more than usual to his father-in-law’s holy grave…as an uncle and shov I have the responsibility to inform you that wonderful things are likely to happen.”
Included also is a letter from his son, Rabbi Yisrael Shmotkin, an emissary for the Rebbe of Milwaukee.
21x16cm. Thin paper, light tears in the margins, good condition.
Rabbi Yehuda Shmotkin (1910-1982) was among the first Chabad chassidim in Israel. He worked to spread the message to far-out yishuvim, and was a representative of the Lubavitch Library in Israel.
