Typewritten letter on official letterhead, signed by hand by the gaon Rabbi Binyamin Mendelson, the mythical rabbi of the Charedi moshav Kommemiyut.

Addressed to the administrators of the Vaad Yeshivot in Jerusalem. From Kislev 1952. “It is known that the moshav here is a clear Torah-abiding, agricultural moshav, and as a rabbi I wish to strengthen the limmud of torah in this moshav so I opened a yeshiva. In order for the students to understand the shiurs that I teach them I have one request, a talmid chacham who studied in yeshiva since his youth, to settle here and help me to strengthen the yeshiva…he will study here constantly as they do in the great yeshivot in Jerusalem…organize an exemption from the army for him as a ben yeshiva, because what is the difference if he studies here or in Jerusalem. I hope that you fulfil my request, signed with thanks and respect.”
