Lot 199:
1. Sefer Yesod Yosef, “written by the rabbi gaon chassid kabbalist the famous Yosef Av Beit Din of Dubna…a book filled with holy hanhagot and wonderful mussars, also collected by the author from ancient works particularly the Zohar…” Second edition, printed by Avraham Shalom Shadov, Zhitomir 1867.
This edition has the additional approbation from the Admor Rabbi Aharon of Chernobyl (missing in this copy), who wrote: “I state that Yesod Yosef did not leave my father’s pure table, the Admor Ish Elokim [the Maggid of Chernobyl]. It is a mitzvah to print it…on the condition that they print it at the press in Zhitomir…and I also request that everyone by this holy book for full value and read it, each according to his ability, an additional blessing will come upon you to benefit you with spirit and rain and life and livelihood, amen ken yehi ratzon.”.
The publisher, Rabbi Gedalyahu Segel, also received the blessing of the Rahak Rabbi Yitzhak of Skvira: “I the publisher was in Skvira, and Rabbi Yitzhak shlita…who really enjoyed the printing of this holy book, also desired that those like him purchase this book and read it always at every available opportunity.”
Originally: [1], 74 leaves. This copy is missing the title page and begins with the fourth leaf, but included at the end is the rare “table of errors” which does not appear in the Mifal Bibliographia and does not appear in the copy at the National Library. Bound with old, worn binding, sewen with binding string. A few moth holes, stains, corrections in blue ink in a number of places. Otherwise overall good condition.
